Maybelline Baby Lips - Cherry Me

Maybelline Baby Lips 'Cherry Me' - £2.99

These Maybelline Baby Lips have been causing a massive stir in the blogging world, so many British bloggers and youtubers were waiting eagerly for these to come to our shores and when they finally did everyone went crazy for them. I must admit, I wasn't really one of them. I already have a favourite lipbalm and I was convinced these wouldn't be a patch on my favourite lipbalm, or the colour wouldn't pay off. But I was so wrong.

Not only do I love the packaging, but the scent of this particular one 'Cherry Me' is absolutely divine! I love cherry scents so this was already a winner. My sister got me one of these as part of my birthday present a few months ago, and i've been using it a lot ever since.

It does moisturise your lips a lot, I wore it for many hours and my lips continued to feel moisturised. I must admit the colour of this didn't last for as long as I would've wanted, but I didn't really expect it too. It only lasted an hour or so, and would go in minutes if you ate or drank at all.

It's a very sheer raspberry colour on the lips when applied. So if you're looking for an opaque, lipstick like, look when you apply this then this would be a disappointment. But I do love the colour and it's perfect for this time of year.

I would recommend the Baby Lips, purely on the lipbalm alone. It is definitely moisturising and the two different tinted colour ones (Pink Punch and Peach Kiss) are great for a quick fix of colour to your lips. They also have three other ones which are Mint Fresh, Intense Care and Hydrate, which are colourless.

For the bargain price of £2.99 you really can't go wrong with these.

You can find the Baby Lips at:

Boots - £2.99
Superdrug - £2.99

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion - (part of Urban Decay Naked Palette)

Until I got the Naked Palette a couple of years ago, I had never ever tried an eye primer. I was just getting into make-up and didn't know what they did and what was the point in having them. But since having used this mini sample of the Urban Decay Primer Potion, i've come to realise how great it is.

I bet if you ask any make-up addict or any bloggers or youtubers about eye primers, then this one will be one of the first things they'll think of. It's a cult product in my eyes. I do love the design of this bottle, it goes well with the whole potion name. However, it is slightly impractical when you want to get the last of the product out, it is difficult to get it out. I have seen a lot of pictures of people who have managed to cut it up and depot the product, which is probably what i'll end up doing.
Urban Decay have solved this problem though, with changing the packaging and now it is a squeezy tube which I think is better all round really, despite me still having a soft spot for this old packaging.

The actual product itself is a creamy colour and when you apply it all over your eyelid it looks that colour, but when blended in you cannot see it. It definitely does make my eyeshadow last longer, and also my eyeshadow never creases after I use this either. I honestly cannot fault this product.

However, I find my eyelids hold eyeshadow pretty well day to day so I tend not to use this all the time when i've applied eyeshadow, I only tend to use the primer if it's for a special occassion or night out or a long day out somewhere. But if your eyeshadow does struggle to stay on, then I would definitely suggest giving this a go.

Like I said, this one in particular comes free with the first Naked Palette, so it's a little added bonus product to try and you can't buy this small size individually. But if you want to just buy this product and not the Naked Palette, you can go out and buy a full size version, which I definitely will when this eventually runs out (I can't believe it hasn't already to be fair!).

I am tempted to try some of the new high street/drugstore alternatives that are starting to appear, as they would be cheaper in the long run. But honestly, I love this one so much and no other eye primer has been raved about quite so much as this Urban Decay one, so I will stick with it for the foreseeable future.

The full size Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion retails for £15.00
 and can be found at:

Debenhams - £13.50 (currently 10% off)

Bourjois Happy Light Luminous Serum Primer

Bourjois Happy Light Luminous Serum Primer - £10.99

A shocking confession heading your way, i've never ever used a face primer before. I know, it's bad. But I got tired of my make-up not hanging around for as long as I wanted and so I decided to try one out. I got the new Bourjois Happy Light Luminous Serum Primer on the basis that, firstly it was raved about by a lot of people, and secondly it was on offer at the time for about £6.99 I think.

I do love the packaging of the Bourjois Primer, it's in a lovely glass bottle and it comes with a pump at the top which is always handy. The actual primer itself comes into two forms, there is the Luminous Serum Primer or the Matte Serum Primer. I chose the Luminous Serum Primer purely on the fact that I have dry skin, whereas the Matte Serum Primer would suit any of you who suffer with oily skin.

As you can see from the swatch picture above, it comes out a peachy colour and does have a very light pleasant fresh scent. I put this on underneath my foundation, which I applied almost immediately afterwards. It felt good to put on and it felt light on the skin, I didn't even notice i'd put anything extra on my face when i'd done all my make-up. Even my make-up applied more smoothly than normal, which is an added bonus.

As you can see from this last picture it blends beautifully into the skin and does make my skin look more luminous, and even after my make-up application my face looked more awake and it definitely helped to hydrate my skin, as it claims to do on the front of the bottle.
And I would say my make-up definitely lasted longer with using this primer underneath, i'll be using it everyday from now on.

I would definitely recommend you try out this primer, especially if you're knew to the whole primer thing. The only downside to this product is the price, £10.99 is rather steep for a high street/drugstore product, but it is worth it. Also there are always offers floating about in Boots or Superdrug, so keep your eyes peeled for those if you want to save a few pounds.

This can be found at:

Boots - £10.99
Superdrug - £10.99

Mac Viva Glam Nicki Lipstick

Mac Viva Glam Nicki Lipstick - £15.00

I made a sneaky Mac lipstick purchase this week, what with having to order a Christmas present online through Debenhams for one of my friends, and there was a 10% off all beauty I thought i'd treat myself to an early Christmas present.

I am a massive fan of Mac Lipsticks, their formula is amazing, they last a long time and their colour range is simply the best that i've come across. Everyone raves about them and quite rightly so. This Viva Glam Nicki is a Satin formula, which if i'm lead to believe is the next step up from a matte, so it gives that matte look but with a bit more moisture. This is the first satin formula lipstick i've had from Mac and I like it a lot.

I was never one hundred percent sure on this colour, every time i've swatched it in store I always thought it was too bright. Then I look at people's swatches on blogs and on youtube and sometimes it still looked very bright and then other times it doesn't, so I was always torn. But my favourite type of lipstick is the kind of pink based corals, so when I found out this lipstick was only going to be avaliable until February 2014, and considering Christmas is coming up and also all the proceeds to the Viva Glam lipstick go to the Mac Aids Fund charity aswell, I finally decided to bite the bullet and just go for it.

And now seeing it at home in person and trying it on, I absolutely love it! Some people describe this colour as a bubblegum pink, I totally disagree with that. Its a bright pink with definite coral undertones. It's not exactly the right time of year for this colour of lipstick, I prefer darker more berry and red lipsticks in winter, but nonetheless this will be the perfect summer lipstick in my opinion.

I'm so glad I decided to get this lipstick, it's so gorgeous! And if you're thinking about it yourself, then i'd urge you to get it now while you still can.

There is so much to offer in this Nivea gift set, it is definitely great value for money.

4.) Sanctuary Ultimate Glow Pamper Tin - £19.00 (was £40)

If you know someone who is a big Sanctuary fan then this would be the perfect gift, and with the £21 saving its definitely worth grabbing now.
It contains a Body Wash (250ml), Body Lotion (250ml), Spa Skin Body Polisher, Radiance Exfoliator (100ml), Fresh Faced Purifying Wash (140ml), Spa Facial Headband, Pumice Foot Scrub (50ml), Moisture Rich Foot Butter (50ml), Spa Pedicure Foot File

Marc Jacobs Daisy is my favourite perfume, but any perfume gift set is always a winner at Christmas.
This gift set is packaged beautifully and it contains: Marc Jacobs Daisy Eau de Toilette 50ml, Marc Jacobs Daisy Body Lotion 75ml, Marc Jacobs Daisy Shower Gel 75ml.

Each cracker contains a full size Nail Inc Nail Polish, so if you consider each polish alone is £11.00 then this cracker set is a total bargain!

I will be doing an Under £10 Gift Guide tomorrow.
Until then, happy Christmas shopping.

Eczema : The Nightmare of Central Heating

Over the past couple of weeks or so we've all started to notice the definite cold in the air. Some parts of the country are even getting snow, but none here as of yet. By now I would think everyone has begun putting their central heating on, wearing warmer clothes, wearing more layers to bed and putting an extra blanket on the bed to sleep in.

For me this is definitely the case, because my radiator is not switched on AT ALL throughout the entire year. Regardless of how cold it gets. It is horrible, believe me.

Why do I do this you may ask?

Well the answer to that is, that I noticed that my eczema flares up a lot more when i've been in areas with a lot of central heating. So if i'm near a radiator too long then I will start to scratch. Or if I just feel it in the air it will start to affect me. You may not think something so simple as central heating may be affecting your eczema, but it can, as studies have shown. So I made the horrible decision, as of last year, to switch my radiator off in my bedroom completely. However, it still remains on in every other area of the house, as the rest of my family don't suffer with eczema and don't want to switch it off, quite frankly, who would right?

Has it made a difference?

Yes I can definitely say that it has. I don't scratch nearly as much when i'm in my bedroom. I do feel it affecting my eczema when I leave my room, but I can't help that I just have to put up with it. So if you suffer with eczema, i'd suggest to switch your radiator off in your room for a few nights and see how it works. To counteract the coldness, put more blankets on your bed and maybe wear warmer pyjamas.

Getting out of bed in the morning to a cold room is not an inviting prospect, but it's worth it if it will help you to stop scratching during the night. I used to wake up in the morning and have horrible scratch marks all over the place where i've scratched myself in my sleep, that's when I knew things had to stop.

As a footnote to that I would suggest if you have young children who scratch in their sleep,  perhaps you may want to try putting mittens or gloves on then for them to sleep in. My parents never had to resort to that when I was younger, but if that is the case maybe try it if you haven't already.

Doctor Who Adipose Necklace

Adipose Necklace

You're probably reading this post right now and thinking what an earth is that little creature, and what has this got to do with beauty? Well you'd be spot on there, but as it's a special occassion I couldn't let today pass without showing you guys this cute necklace.

As a lot of you will know (regardless if you're a fan or not) today is the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary! And tonight we finally get to see the special anniversary episode!
I am beyond excited!

I'm a big Doctor Who fan, as i'm sure a lot of you are too. Not only is it the longest running sci-fi show in the world, but the fact it's been going for 50 years is an incredible achievement, that not many television shows can claim to have achieved, apart from Coronation Street of course to name just one other British TV show, both of which are still going strong and loved my many.
I also live in the area where Doctor Who is filmed, so it just makes me love this show even more!

So I wanted to show you all something I have had for a few years since I randomly came across it when searching for jewellery on Ebay. It is this very cute Adipose necklace. The Adipose were in the first episode of Series 4 'Partners in Crime' and I think they are the cutest Doctor Who creature they've ever had, so when I saw this I had to have it.

If you'd like one of these, I would suggest looking on places like Ebay or maybe Etsy, they aren't avaliable in shops, so they can be quite tricky to find.

Happy Doctor Who viewing to all who love the show.

Happy 50th Anniversary Doctor Who!!! :D

Nails Inc Chelsea Square

Nails Inc Chelsea Square - £11.00

I'm not the biggest nail varnish addict, unlike my sister who has a whole rack full of them! For one I don't normally have the patience to sit there and paint my nails and keep putting a few coats on and waiting for them to dry. Also the fact that I am a nail biter so it would be a waste of time putting nail varnish on in the first place.

However, there are some exceptions to this and this Nails Inc nail polish is it.

I was watching QVC and I saw this particular colour come up in a set of other colours, as soon as I saw it I immediately wanted it. And not wanting to pay over £20 for the set of three nail polishes, I just wanted this colour and so went on the hunt for it online.

Nails Inc do charge £11.00 each for their nail varnishes, which I think is a tad steep (then again I won't even fork out £7.99 for an Essie one) like I said I won't pay that much for something I won't use that often. But this one I was tempted to pay the full £11.00 because I loved it so much.

It's a beautiful pink, almost rose gold looking, glitter nail polish. I applied it over a base colour on my first application and it was opaque in one coat. It looks absolutely stunning and has firmly become one of my favourite ever nail polishes. I also love the packaging of the Nails Inc nail polishes, and the fact that they name all their polishes after areas of London just makes me love them even more.
My boyfriend treated me to a weekend in London recently for my birthday back in September so thinking of the London names made me think back to our trip.

I would actually buy Nails Inc polishes again, purely for the fact that this one lasted 7 days without chipping (it may have lasted longer but I decided to change the colour by this point). But glitter nail polishes always last longer than a normal colour nail polish anyway we must note.

Luckily, I found this polish for £8.91 a few weeks ago, which is still pricey for a nail polish but cheaper than the overall £11.00. However, when I went to look for this same product again on beautybay.com it was not that price anymore, but was still cheaper than £11.00 at £9.35

This is clearly a popular colour as there is only a few remaining at that price, so grab them now while you can. Or you could always ask for this for Christmas. Nails Inc are also avaliable in shops like Boots, House of Fraser and Debenhams, but will be at the full £11.00 more than likely.

I love this nail polish, and I can tell I will be wearing this a lot.

John Frieda Heat Defeat Protection Spray

John Frieda Heat Defeat Protection Spray - 150ml - £5.09

Heat Defense products have become very vital to any womans haircare routine in recent times, with the constant heat styling tools like straighteners and curling irons etc being a part of almost daily lives it's very important that us girls protect our hair from the heat, the heat which can be as high as 200 degrees may I add, which still scares me that i'm putting something that hot on my hair.

Nonetheless with hair like mine, straightners are needed.

This is the Jogn Frieda Heat Defeat Spray, this used to just sit in our bathroom cupboard gathering dust. So when I was looking through it one day, having a sort out, I thought i'd dig it out and actually make use of it. And i'm glad I did.

The packaging on the front may have slightly alterated if you went to buy this exact product now, but companies are always doing that so I wouldn't worry too much. The actual product inside is still the same. It contains thermo-guard technology which will protect your hair against the heat of blow drying and using hot styling tools. It also claims to leave your hair straight and smooth for 24hrs.

It helps to leave my hair somewhat straight, but not straight enough otherwise I wouldn't be using straighteners, but it does help a bit. You spray this into towel dried hair and brush through, so it is distributed evenly through your hair before blow drying it, then using whatever styling tool you please.

I like the packaging, and it evenly distributes product. It helps to make my hair feel smoother and helps straighten it, and the best thing is the fact I know it will protect my hair from the heat.

I can't stress this enough girls, use heat protection spray on your hair, your hair will be less damaged and look healthier as a result.

You can find this product at:

 Feel Unique - £5.09

Boots - £5.89
