April 2014 Favourites!

We’re already at the end of this month, I can’t quite believe it! I thought March went rather slowly but April has just zoomed by. Also the weather has got nicer (i've actually been wearing shorts!) and the nights are lighter too, oh I just love this time of year.
Anyway let's get on to my favourites.
I got the oil a long time ago and kept forgetting about it. But I’ve now put it near the area where I dry my hair and it reminds me to use it. I’ve been putting it on my damp/wet hair before I blow dry it and I’ve noticed a definite difference in my hair in that it is a lot less frizzy and more smooth after I’ve dried it. And most of all it has become very soft! I can’t believe I’ve neglected this for so long, but I won’t now I know how good it is.

Mac Cut a Caper Lipstick

I have really been feeling the peachy/coral makeup look, it must be the weather or just the feeling of spring in the air. But I gravitated back to one of my Mac lipsticks in the ever popular Cut a Caper. It's sadly a limited edition shade so you can't get your hands on it, but i'm sure it will pop up again in another collection at some point. It's a lovely pinky coral shade and great for spring and summer.

This is my newest addition to my lipstick collection, and I only got this midway through April but I've not worn much else. It's either been this or Cut a Caper. I've done a blog post about this lipstick if you want to check it out. But i've really enjoyed wearing this, such a lovely bright colour!

I've really neglected these blushes in the past year or so since i've got them, but i've dug them out of my makeup stash and started using them and i've been enjoying them. They are only avaliable in Superdrug stores and they are cheap blushes but they are very pigmented blushes and last well on my cheeks. Give them a go!

The last of my LUSH products that I got for Christmas in a giftset, but i've really loved it! A popular soap from LUSH which has a great caramel/honey scent. Just divine! It's not pictured above as I literally just finished it yesterday.

Estee Lauder Raisins Eyeshadow Duo - (review)

A discontinued product (weeps) but a gorgeous one that I can't leave ignored in my drawer. I have actually only been using the left side of this palette for some reason, maybe I prefer the more plum/wine colour for the autumn/winter but the shimmery champagne colour has been so nice to wear.

Random Favourites!

Well it has been Easter time, how can I not include an Easter themed Yankee Candle in my April favourites? :) A lovely white chocolate and vanilla, creamy sort of scent. If you want it, run and order it quickly before it goes off the website. Again this isn't pictured as I used up the jar this month and it went in the recycling last week.

Now I wouldn't call myself fashion conscious at all really, I go for comfort more than anything! Having said that i'm a big fan of tan accessories like bags and shoes, and I am always on the look out for some good wedges that aren't a ridiculous height! (As most are!) I don't know about you but I like to be able to walk in my shoes. I found these in New Look and love them, I wore them throughout the Easter weekend and when the weather has been nice outside i've worn them. I can tell they'll be my new summer favourite.

If you haven't heard of this film you must have been living under a rock for the last few months. Frozen was such a hyped up film, and I never got round to seeing it in the cinema, but my sister recently got it on DVD and I borrowed it off her and like everyone else it seems, I am in love with this film! Great animation, great characters, great story and the songs! Oh the songs! Just please watch it if you haven't already.

Drugstore/High Street Makeup Wishlist

We've all got that wishlist in our heads of products that we want to buy, whether that be high end products or drugstore/high street products, we're always lusting after something beauty related.

I thought it would be fun to see what products i'd actually like to try out and i'd love to see what other peoples makeup wishlists are.

1.)  L'Oreal Paris Color Riche Collection Privée - £8.19

I had my eye on these on my last Boots trip, and wish i'd picked one up now. I am a big fan of the L'Oreal lipsticks and these nude collection by the celebrity L'Oreal representatives look great. I have my eye on Julianne's Nude, Cheryl's Nude and maybe Eva's Nude aswell.

2.) Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Gel Foundation - £10.99

This is a very much raved about foundation and I think it would be very suitable for my dry skin. The £10.99 price tag is the main reason I haven't picked this up yet, as I love my Rimmel Match perfection and that is a lot cheaper. But I will get round to trying this at some point.

3.) Collection Extreme 24h Felt Tip Liner - £2.99

I don't often wear eyeliner but when I do I always opt for a felt tip one as they are easier to apply, the one I currently have is the Rimmel Flash Eyeliner which I really love but has been discontinued. When that does run out i'll try this as it's not only cheap but seems to be well loved by many.

4.) Soap & Glory™ Its About Prime™ Eyeshadow Underbase - £8.00

I didn't even know this product existed until I was browsing Boots online and came across it, i'm not sure if it's new or it's just not talked about much. But i'm on the look out for a new eyeshadow primer as i'd love a cheaper alternative to my beloved Urban Decay Primer Potion.

5.) SEVENTEEN Solo Eye Shadow - £3.89

I saw someone on youtube use the colour Walnut Pearl in a tutorial recently and I really fancied picking it up, having a quick look at the other colours in the range I quite fancy also trying out Rose Quartz, Statuesque and Gold Emerald.

Those are my current five, but I could easily write a longer post but i'd have about twenty items and I think that's a bit excessive.

Remember to check back in next Saturday to see my High End Makeup wishlist.

Project Pan 2014 - 2 month update!

When looking back at my blog posts I realised that today was the two month mark of my Project Pan 2014 blog post (here), so I thought i'd do an update for you.

1.) Simple Essential Lip Balm - Used up
2.) John Frieda Frizz Ease Spray - Used up and repurchased
3.) Simple Kind to Skin Vital Vitamin Day Cream - Almost gone
4.) Revlon Colorburst Lipgloss in Hot Pink - Used up
5.) Avon Red Dress Spray - Half way through
6.) Palmolive Passionflower Shower Gel - Used up
7.) Mac Creme Cup Lipstick - Almost gone
8.) Pixi Oyster Glow Eyeliner - Not been touched
9.) Clinique High Impact Mascara Sample - Almost Gone
10.) The Body Shop Mango Body Butter - Pretty much the same

I think i've done not too bad for the two month mark, the eyeliner and the body butter I will focus on using more but everything else i'm pretty happy with. The next thing to finish will definitely be the Simple Day Cream as that has about 10% left i'd say, and then it'll be the Clinique mascara.

As you can see I have repurchased the John Frieda Frizz Ease Spray, I didn't think I would but I noticed a difference in my hair after not using it for a while, so I got another bottle and i'm quite a way through that aswell so that could be x2 entry really.

I will try and do another update at the 4 month mark if I can remember.

If you're doing a Project Pan like myself then let me know how you're getting on, or if this has inspired you to start your own, then don't worry we're only 4 months into the year. Plenty of time left!

Good luck if you are starting one, or already undertaking your own Project Pan.

L'Oreal L'Extraordinaire Liquid Lipstick - Rose Symphony

The beauty world obsession with liquid lipsticks doesn't seem to be slowing down anytime soon, most of the drugstore/high street brands have come out with their versions of them. So far i've tried the Rimmel Apocalips which I love, and this weekend when browsing the aisles of Boots where they had their extremely irrestitable 3 for 2 deal on, I picked up the liquid lipstick that L'Oreal have brought to the table, in the form of the L'Oreal L'Extraordinaire Liquid Lipstick by Color Riche in the shade 201 Rose Symphony.

This Liquid Lipstick is said to have the shine of a gloss but with the intensity of a lipstick but it feels like a balm, and I can actually agree wholeheartedly with all of these claims. They are very pigmented as you can see by the swatch further on down this post, they look very glossy on the lips (my sister actually thought it was a lipgloss when she saw me wearing it) and it is very lightweight on the lips, it feels very much like a lipbalm in the consistancy. One of the strangest lipsticks i've tried, as it does really feel like a weird trio hybrid lip product, i'm dying to pick up some more colours as I really enjoy wearing this one.

The applicator is pretty standard with these liquid lipsticks, but it applies the product well and doesn't distribute too much either.

The colour I have here is Rose Symphony which is a bright pink colour with slight coral hints to it I think, in some lights it just looks bright pink and in others it looks like a pink coral colour. It is clearly a popular colour within the range as it was the last one left on the stand in Boots when I got there, whilst most of the other colours were pretty well stocked. I can see why it's popular as it is such a nice bright colour that is perfect for the swiftly approaching summer.

The colour wears pretty well too, after the glossy look has worn down it leaves a nice colour on the lips which lasted all day, it only wore off when I ate some food, so if it weren't for eating i'd say it would last at least 6 hours on the lips. Obviously the brighter/darker or more intense the colour, the longer it'll last and may well leave a slight tint to the lips like this one did. But if you want to keep up the glossy look then reapply every few hours.

I do think the £8.99 is a little steep, but L'Oreal are one of the more expensive of the drugstore/high street brands so it's expected. It won't stop me purchasing another few shades in the range, i've got my eye on Rose Melody already.

That's another thing I love about these is the names, they have a musical element to them which is rather cute and the packaging is of course very sleek and feels high end, the little colour of the lipsticks on the side is a nice little touch too. L'Oreal never fail to disappoint when it comes to packaging in my opinion.

I'd happily pick some more of these up and I may well take advantage of the Boots 3 for 2 offer again while it's still on.

Yankee Candle Easter Bunny Tealight Holder - Easter 2014!

 Happy Easter everyone!

I hope you're enjoying your Easter weekend wherever you are, and happily stuffing your faces with chocolate.

But chocolate is not the basis for this post sadly, but hopefully you'll still like it anyway.

For any of you candle lovers out there who want to prolong the Easter festivities, or you're just a fan of bunny rabbits in general (who isn't?) then this little gem of home decor will be right up your alley.

This Yankee Candle Easter Bunny Tealight holder is a limited edition product that Yankee Candle have brought out specially for Easter 2014, and I saw this about a month ago on their website and I finally got my hands on it a week or so ago after caving in and ordering it.

It is the cutest accessory that Yankee have brought out in my opinion. It's a sturdy piece that holds a Yankee Candle tealight, or any other tealight for that matter, perfectly. It looks very sweet sitting on my windowsill, and I won't be putting this away when Easter is over, i'd happily keep it out all year round. The white rabbit has a nice little pink collar with a bow on it which is spotted, just makes it look even sweeter.

I honestly can't fault this accessory, and love putting my tealights in it. And for the great price of £5.99 you really can't go wrong. I'd love to see Yankee Candle bring out similar tealight holders in the future.

If you want to get your hands on this little beauty then I suggest you act fast, as I don't know how much longer this will be on the Yankee Candle website, but I predict it won't be around for too much longer.

Happy Easter!

Best of Easter Beauty Offers

Don't you just love Easter time? not only do we get to indulge in easter eggs but the offers in store and online go a bit bananas too. I've noticed a lot of them floating around in the last few days and thought i'd share my favourite ones with you.

Boots

Boots are having their infamous 3 for 2 offer across their cosmetics and nail products. It feels like they've only just done a 3 for 2 but i'm not complaining, it's always a good deal.

Feel Unique

If you are a fan of Feel Unique they have a 20% off offer rolled out across all their product lines if you spend over £20. And if you spend over £10 (which is easily done I would think) then you will get free delivery, that includes anywhere in the world. How can you ignore a good deal like that?

The Body Shop

The Body Shop is the Queen of special offers, I can't remember the last time when they didn't have an offer on of some kind. And this Bank Holiday Easter Weekend is no exception. With £10 off when you spend £25 with the unique code.

Beauty Bay

I've shopped with Beauty Bay before and was impressed by their service, and this Easter Weekend there are three offers on depending on how much you spend. Of course the more you spend the more you save. Anything from 10% on all orders to 20% off when you spend £80.

The Perfume Shop

If perfume is more up your alley, then The Perfume Shop are doing up to 50% off selected products. Treat yourself to a new fragrance ready for the spring and summer, i'm eyeing up the new spring edition Marc Jacobs Daisy Delight, and also the new Dolce and Gabbana Dolce perfume.

Enjoy your Easter weekend whatever you're doing.

Natural Collection Lipsticks

Natural Collection Lipsticks - £1.99

Natural Collection are a brand I was never really drawn to that much in the past, I never used to hear much about them and as they are a Boots exclusive only brand, and if you're not near a Boots then you wouldn't be able to get hold of anything, so that is a slight negative. But having looked into Natural Collection a bit more in the last few years I am growing to really like them.

One of the things I absolutely love about Natural Collection is the price point. For example each of these lipsticks is £1.99, which is such a bargain and especially for people on a budget. These are perfect for maybe teenagers or students, or just people who don't want to spend a load of money on make-up but want decent products. Their 3 for £5.00 deal they always have on in Boots is not to be ignored.

I also like the clean white packaging design that they have across all their products, but you can tell they are cheap and I suppose you get what you pay for. You can hear the lipstick rattling in the tube and the twisty bit at the bottom can be too stiff too, as is the case for one of these lipsticks that I have pictured, and then on the other one the twisty bit is too loose. But it doesn't matter too much, the fact that they are so cheap makes up for it I suppose.

The two colours that I have here are Sorbet which is the peachy colour and Rose Bud which is the pinky colour which a hint of gold shimmer in it too. I would describe Rose Bud as a slight front finish but not overly frosty at all, it's not that noticeable. And the Sorbet colour I would describe as a lustre sort of sheer finish. As you can see i've worn these quite a bit and the top of the lipsticks look rather strange! They do look like normal lipsticks when you buy them, honest.

Rose Bud is more pigmented and get a good colour pay off pretty easily, whereas it takes longer to build up a good colour with the Sorbet one as it is sheer like I said. Nevertheless they are both very moisturising and comfortable to wear and they actually last pretty well on the lips, a good four hours or so, especially when it comes to Rose Bud. I'd recommend Rose Bud over Sorbet personally just because of the lack of pigmentation that Sorbet gives.

If you are looking for a good lipstick from the drugstore/high street I would definitely consider going and taking a look at the Natural Collection lipsticks, for the price they are very good and the range of colours is very decent too. They are very much overlooked products and deserve more love than I think they get.

I couldn't find a direct link to the lipsticks on the Boots website, but i've put a link to the Natural Collection range as a whole instead.

The Body Shop Coconut Eau De Toilette

The Body Shop Eau de Toilette - 8.50

I honestly don't know where my love of coconut scented things have come from recently. I used to really dislike anything to do with coconut, maybe it's my feelings towards the Bounty chocolate bar that put me off coconut things, but now i'm in love and last month I went a bit crazy and bought a load of coconut products from The Body Shop. This Eau de Toilette being one of them.

This is not the first Eau de Toilette from The Body Shop that i've ever had, I used to have some back in my teenage years and for the life of me I can't remember what they were, but I know they definitely weren't ones like these, which are linked with the different ranges that The Body Shop have.

I think coconut reminds people of summer and nice tropical sunny holidays, it does for me anyway (not that i've ever been on any kind of tropical holiday!) and it would indeed make a great fragrance for the summer time and i'm wearing it in spring time too, why not.

It does of course have a defining coconut scent but there is almost a bit of creamy almost vanilla scent to it in a way. I'm no good with different notes within perfumes, but its a lovely mixture between coconut and a sweet warm note of some kind i'd say.

The Body Shop, annoyingly, doesn't put all the notes within the perfume in the description on their website. But it describes it as a tropical, creamy scent which is pretty spot on with what I thought it smelt like.

This is a 30ml bottle and for £8.50 that is a good price considering you can spent triple that on a 30ml bottle of any other perfume of a more expensive brand for example. So when the 30ml runs out it will be cheap to repurchase, and if you get it during one of their sales (which is a very common occurance in The Body Shop, at the moment they have 40% off) it really is a good buy.

So if you're already a fan of the coconut range of products in The Body Shop, or if you just fancy trying a new fragrance for the sunnier months approaching, then go and have a smell of this next time you're out shopping.

Mac 'Blazing Haute' Extra Dimension Blush

Mac Extra Dimension Blush 'Blazing Haute'

This blush was released as part of Mac's Extra Dimension Collection last year, and it is a Limited Edition product so I shouldn't really be talking about it really as you can't currently get hold of it. But Mac often re-release products that are part of Limited Edition collections, so don't be too sad as this could well come round again.

As you can see from the photo I have used this quite a bit, as the swirly pattern and the Mac imbossing on the top of the blush has worn away for the most part.

It is a lovely peachy colour, it is described by Mac as a 'dirty peach' colour which is pretty spot on, some describe it as having a slight shimmer/sheen to it and I can sort of see where they are coming from as it is quite glowy. What I will say is this is definitely not a matte blush, but almost like a satin finish.

It is such a great colour for the spring and summer months in my opinion, and i've been wearing it a lot as this spring has rolled around, hence why i'm talking about it now.

The texture of this blush is the strangest i've come across, it is almost quite hard to the touch but it is pretty well pigmented, it is not powdery at all. I do find that I need a dense brush in able to pick up the right amount of product that I desire. The Real Techniques Expert Face Brush being my personal favourite for this blush, but other than that it works like a dream.

It has good colour pay off and it is one of the longest wearing blushes that I own, it'll last at least 7 hours on me, which is surprising as i've read other reviews on this very blush and most seem to say it lasts 5 or 6 hours. It must be my dry skin that makes it last longer.

This really is a great blush, and one I enjoy owning in my collection, and it was the first ever Mac blush that I got so it is a special one to me. I would get this again if it was re-released but i've never managed to finish a blush yet so we'll see. It is such a shame this isn't widely talked about, and even when the Extra Dimension Collection was released this was one of the least popular blushes, which I can't understand why but ah well each to their own.

Like I said this is a Limited Edition blush so I cannot link it for you, but if this crops up in a blog sale or it is re-released i'd encourage you to get it.
