Topshop 'Suffuse' Nail Polish - £6.00

 

Topshop make-up really has come on leaps and bounds in the last few years, it's pretty rare for a fashion brand to create a make-up line and for it to do so well. But Topshop have indeed done that.

 

This Topshop nail varnish in Suffuse is a lovely rose gold sort of colour, I had been eyeing up this colour for at least a year and last year my sister got it for me for my birthday after i'd asked for it. I'm so glad i've got it, it's such a gorgeous colour!

 

It applied very well and was fully opaque in two coats, and it dried quickly too. It only started to chip on the edges after about a week of wearing it, which I think is pretty decent going for a nail varnish. The brush is decent aswell, so it gets a thumbs up from me.

 

The packaging of the Topshop nail varnishes is some of the best i've seen when it comes to nail varnish, very nice little bottles with very cute polka dot design on the top.

 

I literally cannot fault the nail varnishes at all, i'm impressed with the colour pay off, the longevity of the nail varnish itself and with how well it applied on my nails. Even the price tag of £6 is pretty decent too, they are £1 more expensive than the regular colours as i'm guessing because of the metallic finish, it's the same with the glitter nail varnishes that Topshop do.

 

I'd happily go back to Topshop and get some more of their nail varnishes, they have such a big colour range too. More so than all the other high street/drugstore stands in Boots or Superdrug for example.

 

Topshop currently have a 2 for £9 offer on on their nail varnishes so stock up now if you've got your eye on this or any of their other amazing colours.

 

They currently don't have the 'Suffuse' colour nail varnish on the Topshop website, but it's always like that on the website the nail varnishes come and go on there very frequently so don't worry it will more than likely come back on. You will almost definitely find it in the Topshop store though so head there first if you want to get your hands on this particular colour.

No7 Stay Perfect 'Glace' Lipstick

 

No7 Stay Perfect Lipstick 'Glace' - £9.50

 

I still can't remember what got me intrigued about this colour lipstick, I think I must have seen it on somebody's blog or something. It not normally a colour I would go for but it must have interested me enough to go out and get it.

 

This is the first No7 lipstick i've ever tried and I have to say i'm impressed. Not only is the packaging sleek and looks quite expensive, but the formula is great. The Stay Perfect line of their lipsticks is said to provide colour that will last up to 8 hours but will keep your lips feeling moisturised and hydrated.

 

I'd agree with the 8 hour point, it definitely lasts a long time and it's not at all drying on the lips, it feels very comfortable and great to wear. It also has great pigmentation.

 

 It's a very creamy formula and i've found that it has worn down quicker than my other lipsticks, and I can't attribute that to how much i've worn it as I actually haven't worn it that much since I bought it back in September I think.

 

I have been wearing it more this month and really started to appreciate how nice it is.

It is a berry purple colour with a gold shimmer in it, it's almost like Nars Sin Blush but in a lipstick form I think. It is a frosty lipstick, so if frost finishes aren't your thing then this probably won't be the shade choice for you. Also it's not too frosty, it all depends on how much you put on.

 

The only downside to this lipstick is the price, £9.50 is pretty steep for a lipstick, I wouldn't pay that much for it and I actually didn't as I got it when No7 had their £5.00 off vouchers. So it came to £4.50 which is a brilliant price for this lipstick.

 

So if you would like this lipstick i'd wait until you have a No7 voucher and then go and get it.

Rimmel Scandaleyes Shadow Stick - Bad Bronze

Rimmel Scandaleyes Shadow Stick - Bad Bronze - £4.49
 

The Scandaleyes line by Rimmel has been a huge success in the last year or so, i've enjoyed using their eyeliners and now their Shadow Sticks are a hit with me too.

This whole crayon looking lip and eye product stemmed from Clinique (I think) and as Clinique is not the cheapest of the make-up brands it's no surprise the high street/drugstore make-up brands jumped on the bandwagon and created their own. I don't own any of the other brands version of the eye crayon shadows, to my recollection I can't even name any other brand off the top of my head that has come out with an eye shadow crayon type product, plenty of the lip crayons but not the eyes. Nevertheless the Shadow Sticks by Rimmel are the focus for todays review.

There was actually only one reason I was drawn to this product, and that was because I missed out on Mac's Eclair Paint Pot, having only discovered it after it's release in a Limited Edition collection had been and gone. So on the hunt for a perfect chocolate brown colour eyeshadow, I came across this. And hearing that people like the product I went ahead and got it, which was quite a challenge actually as it took me a while to find this particular colour.

It is a gorgeous chocolate brown colour with a gold shimmer in it, so beautiful!

It is very creamy and smooth to apply, a dream to blend and the lasting power is very good i'd say at least 8 hours wear time. With a primer more than likely longer.

You could potentially use this as a eyeliner, if you like the thick eyeliner look. But if you want a nice thin line, like myself, then this wouldn't work at all as the crayon is too big to create that look. Very good for a blended out/smudged eyeliner look though!

It didn't crease on my eyelids at all, then again I don't have particularly oily eyelids and not much tends to crease on them. This is basically a cream eyeshadow in a crayon form, so if you have trouble with cream eyeshadow products then this may not be entirely for you.

As you can see by the swatches, i've done a light swatch and a heavy swatch. It is very pigmented and you won't be tugging at your eyes or applying it loads to get colour, no need to worry on that front.

Price tag of under a fiver I have yet to find fault with the actual product, but I do have fault with Rimmel for releasing some not so good colours. There is a very bright turquoise colour, I don't know what it is with make-up brands always releasing bright colours, I don't think they appeal to that many people. I suspect people want more wearable everyday colours - I definitely do. A nice grey with a silver shimmer would be good, or a nice muted gold. They have a shade called Bulletproof Beige which i'm thinking might be a champagne sort of colour, which if it is then i'd be interested in purchasing that one, but none of the other colours appeal to me all that much.

LUSH Butterball Bath Bomb

 

LUSH Butterball Bath Bomb - £2.50

 

This bath bomb changed my entire outlook when it came to bath products and just having a bath in general. A bold statement to make but true nonetheless. This is the Butterball Bath Bomb from LUSH and the reason it changed my opinion on baths are are as follows.

 

I remember walking into LUSH with my sister who was after some bath stuff many a moon ago, and the lovely sales assistant was talking to us about the products as they usually do. As she was helping my sister pick out some things she asked me what I would like, and I explained to her how I wasn't so keen on baths because of my eczema issues and wasn't sure if I was even able to have a bath at all without my eczema flaring up.

 

She was so sweet bless her and talked to me for ages about how other people come into LUSH with similar problems and what products would be good for me, this sales assistant was also the one who told me about Ultrabland and has since changed my life when it comes to skincare, so big thumbs up to her! But as we were by the bath bombs she led us over to this bath bomb and she was saying how this is probably one of the best bath bombs they do for sensitive and eczema prone skin like myself, as it is very moisturising and has very gentle ingredients that will keep you moisturised even after getting out of the bath.

 

So I decided to get this one and tried it out, and as I said at the beginning, it changed how I felt about taking baths.

 

 

It may not be much to look at, let's face it it's not the most exciting of all the bath bombs, it doesn't have a bright colour or have different patterns on it etc, it is a simple small white bath bomb. The sales assistant said it's a very much overlooked product as people are more drawn to the colourful ones rather than the little plain white one sitting in the corner. I can totally relate to that as I had never noticed this one before myself.

 

When you use this bath bomb it doesn't create amazing colours in the water either, it makes it look slightly milky colour to begin with but in a matter of ten minutes or so it has gone and it just looks like you're bathing in warm water. But that doesn't bother me in the slightest.

 

It smells like vanilla which is one of its main ingredients along with cocoa butter and a musk scent. It smells so lovely and it's such a simple scent and not overly fragranced which is good for sensitive skin and eczema sufferers like myself. The cocoa butter is the main selling point of this bath bomb for me as, unlike other bath bombs which I think just make your bath smell nice and don't actually make any noticeable difference to your skin, this one certainly does. It forms like a residue on your skin and moisturises your skin whilst your in the bath and when you get out your skin feels so moisturised, it's amazing! You definitely do not need to put any kind of moisturiser or body lotion/butter on your skin after having a bath using this bath bomb, it does it all for you. So if you're lazy when it comes to that step of your skin routine then this would be handy for you to bathe in.

 

I don't mind that this bath bomb doesn't look as appealing as all the others, I just love the fact it actually has some benefit to my skin and also that it is one of the cheaper bath bombs as it is quite small. I only managed to get one use out of this bath bomb unlike the others I can normally get two uses out of them.

 

If you like your LUSH bath bombs and haven't tried this one yet then I really urge you to. If I went into LUSH at any time of the year looking for a bath bomb this would be one of the ones I would more than likely pick up without a doubt.

Mac Creme Cup Lipstick

First of all, apologies for the fact this lipstick has clearly been used, and the writing on the side of the packaging has started to wear off but i've had it for over a year and I have used it a lot and it's almost finished. But I wanted to blog about it before I used it all up. So I hope we can move past that girls :)

 

As you know i'm a fan of Mac lipsticks, everything from their formulas to their colours I just love. Apart from the £15.00 price tag, that is not something I love. However if I really love the colour or I want one as a treat or for a special occassion I will treat myself to one.

 

The latter is the reason for the purchase of this very lipstick. I graduated in July 2012 and I wanted a nice everyday simple colour to wear for the big day and I decided on Creme Cup after much debate between that and Angel. I went for Creme Cup purely because it was in a cremesheen formula, I wanted a nice moisturising lipstick and I was unsure of the frost finish that Angel provides. So this one came home with me.

 

 

If you like your baby pinks then Creme Cup is one that you definitely need in your collection, it's a lovely colour and as it is a cremesheen formula like I said, it is moisturising on the lips and it last a long time too. Can't fault the formula at all.

 

Unfortunately when my Graduation Day came, I ended up wearing a different colour as when I tried Creme Cup on it just looked too pale on my lips. This colour washes me out quite a bit, depending on what lighting i'm in. I have to say this isn't my favourite of the Mac lipsticks I own, but I have worn it a lot just to try and make use of it. I'm not going to spend £15.00 on a lipstick and then never use it and have it sitting around in my make-up collection. I've come to realise that baby pink colours like this one or anything similar, really doesn't work for me, which is a shame as I really like baby pinks they look so good on so many people. Unfortunately I am not one of them.

 

So for me I wouldn't purchase this colour again, but formula wise and just Mac lipsticks in general I will definitely purchase more in the future.

Chanel Inimitable Intense Mascara

When we're talking high end makeup, Chanel is one of the creme de la creme of the high end brands. It really is the classic expensive make-up that you'd expect movie stars to wear. I of course not being lucky enough to be one, and also the fact I can't afford to spend £24.00 on a mascara, is the reason why I have never bought anything from Chanel, and quite frankly I don't think I ever would. I'm not the kind of person who only buys high end makeup, I love drugstore/high street make-up and I don't think it is worth spending that much money on something like a mascara, which won't even last as long as something like a blusher or an eyeshadow.

 

But anyway, as you can see I do have a Chanel product and so I thought i'd review this little mini sample that I recieved off a lovely neighbour of mine who works at a Chanel counter in Boots, she gave me a sample of this to try when we saw her working in there a while ago.

 

 

I did actually chuck this sample in my make-up collection and to be quite honest I forgot I even had it, which is easily done considering how small it is. But when looking through my makeup a few weeks ago I came across it and started using it. And if i'm honest with myself, I actually rather like it.

 

From the brush itself it looks like a plastic one but feels more like a bristle brush. It coats the lashes well and it's shaped well that you can get in to the very inner corner lashes and the outer ones with ease. It definitely lengthened and volumised my lashes and separated them well. It claims to help with curling the lashes, which I don't agree with as no mascara i've yet to come across curls them like i'd expect.

 

 

All in all this is a very nice mascara, nevertheless it is not worth the £24.00 price tag. You are paying more for the branding of it than the actual product. You can get equally as nice mascaras from the high street/drugstore brands. However, if you're lucky enough to be able to afford to spend this much on a mascara then this would be a good one to go for if you so wish it.
