Rimmel Stay Glossy 'All Day Seduction' Lipgloss

Ah it's about time I dug this little baby out of my makeup stash, it is summer after all and this is the perfect summer lipgloss. In fact so much so that this is the only lipgloss I wear in the summer time as this is the one of only two lipglosses in my collection. Yes you didn't read that wrong, I said two. The other one I have is Maybelline Stellar Berry but that is a plum colour and it is my autumn/winter lipgloss. I'm really not a lipgloss person, so I made a conscious effort to use up the ones I do have and scale it down to my real favourites, which leaves me with just two and I thought i'd share my favourite one for Spring/Summer time with you today. Let me introduce you to Rimmel 'All Day Sediction'.

 

Why is this Rimmel one my favourite you may ask? Well not only is the sleek packaging very nice to look at but the doefoot applicator is just perfect for applying just the right amount on the lips. The smell of this lipgloss is lovely, just sweet and your typical Rimmel scent. Most importantly though the formula of this lipgloss is just divine, smooth and glossy and not the slightest bit on the sticky side. I tell you now, if I was a lipgloss kind of person I would have stocked up on every colour in the Rimmel Stay Glossy line, alas I am not so I am very happy to just have this one.

 

Also the colour is just divine, and very Spring/Summer appropriate. It's a gorgeous redish coral colour with gold shimmer and I stress no glitter! I hate glittery products. I would say if Nars Orgasm was a lipgloss, then it would be this lipgloss.

 

The gloss claims to stay glossy and last up to 6 hours, which is a load of cobblers, as i've yet ever to find a lipgloss that lasts more than two hours. And if you eat anything it's gone completely. But i'm happy to reapply after a couple of hours it's fine.

 

Worringly I couldn't find this exact colour on the Boots or Superdrug website, I hope it hasn't been discontinued as I really love this colour. I don't think it has though as i'm sure I remember seeing it in Boots very recently. Nevertheless I have found it on fragrancedirect for the bargain price of £1.99 which is a £4.00 saving compared to the original price.

Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer

In recent weeks i've become a bit of a concealer junkie, i'm wanting to try out so many new ones and i've now got a wishlist as long as my arm as to ones that I think will suit my under eye area.

 

When looking for a concealer I look for ones that will be good for my under eyes, as i've found my holy grail for any blemishes which is the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer, so for me if it ain't broke don't fix it as they say. So whilst the hunt for the perfect blemish covering concealer is now closed for me, the hunt for my perfect under eye concealer is well and truly on.

I've heard a lot about the Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer so I thought i'd give this a go. First of all I like the packaging and the orange lid is nice and bright to find in your makeup stash. Secondly the other thing to note is this concealer has a doefoot applicator, which I like a lot. Sometimes the problem wirh the brush applicator ones is that the product can collect on the brush and that either wastes some of the product or sometimes the brush can get all splayed and just not nice. I much prefer this type of applicator, or one with a squeezy tube and you can just squeeze the product out yourself onto your finger.

 

When it comes to the actual formula of this concealer, I find it quite creamy but for my dry under eyes it just dried down horrendously, it creased and just made my under eyes look like alligator skin. Any fine lines or dry patches showed up straight away. I think if you have very dry or just dry skin, and dry under eyes then steer clear of this. However if your skin under your eyes is in good condition, or if you have oily skin then this would be great. I used this concealer on areas of my faces with little marks or discolouration and it covered them well, easily a good full coverage as this claims to be.

 

I also think I got a shade that was a tad too dark and orange for me, so next time I would need to get Ivory which is the lightest shade they do. This concealer comes in four shades, which isn't enough really but this kind of range is the norm for drugstore/high street concealers, sadly.

I don't think i'll repurchase this concealer all being said, as it just doesn't fit the purpose of concealing my under eyes effectively enough for me.

May 2014 Favourites!

It's time for my May Favourites! I've got some real crackers to share with you this month, and no repeated products from the last couple of months either. I felt like I discovered and re-discovered some new things over May.

 

Simple Vital Vitamin Day Cream (review)

 

I have been trying to use up my old tub of this Day Cream for a while, and by the time I finished it I realised how much I like it. So much so that I went out and got another one and i've been loving it a lot this month. I have been having a mad eczema flare up over May and still suffering now and this Simple cream, as well as the second one have been helping somewhat and are what I turn to when other things are making me react at the moment. A gorgeous light moisturiser for day time.
 

Simple Vital Vitamin Night Cream (review)

 

Linking on from the Day Cream, I have also been using the Simple Night Cream at night time. It is thicker than the Day Cream as you would expect, but it soaks in quickly and in the morning my skin isn't dry at all. My first ever night cream that i've tried and i'm loving it.

 

Rimmel Kate Moss Lipstick Shade '16' (review)

 

I've been going through a bit of a coral pink lipstick phase at the moment. And I realised I have a lot of lipsticks that are a similar colour, and I felt I had been neglecting this one a lot since I got it, which is a shame as it is a gorgeous colour! Perfect pink coral colour, very moisturising and lasts ages on the lips. Also cheap as chips to buy too. I've been wearing it a lot in May, and will continue to for the rest of the summer.

Sleek 'Rose Gold' Blush (review)

Oh man how I adore this blush! It is still one of my ultimate favourites in my makeup collection. I've not reached for it at all over the autumn and winter months but as the seasons are now changing, i'm using this a lot once again. A dupe for Nars Orgasm aswell, for anyone who didn't know and want a cheaper alternative.

Nails Inc 'Mayfair Lane' Gel Effect Nail Polish (review)

If you saw my review of this nail polish (along with the other 4 that came in the set) you will know how much I love them. And this colour in particular has been my favourite over the month, i've worn it the most out of them all. It's a gorgeous white based baby pink, almost like Essie Figi I would say. I love Nails Inc nail polishes in general, but the Gel Effect ones are even better, even if they are a bit on the expensive side.

Yankee Candle Sun and Sand

 

Since I finished my Yankee Candle White Chocolate Bunnies Large Jar candle over Easter time, I decided to burn my Yankee Candle Medium Pillar candle in Sun and Sand, which is a lovely fresh, citrus sort of sun cream smell. Just gorgeous! As you can see I completely used it all up in May. Sadly it is now a discontinued scent, I was just lucky enough to pick it up at a Yankee Candle outlet shop in the discount section.

 

 

TV Show - 2 Broke Girls

 

 I watched this when it first premiered on E4, and kind of just went off it for some reason. But I watched a few episodes one night and got hooked back on it again. So much so that I watched all three seasons back to back in the space of about two weeks, I was hooked! Love the show and technically it could have been classed as an April favourite as I watched half of them in the last week of April, but I had enough favourites there so I thought i'd put it in this one.

Rimmel Kate Moss Lipsticks

I've had these lipsticks since they first launched what feels like an eternity ago! I can remember having them before I graduated from university and that was in 2012 so i've had them at least three years which is mad. And I know some of you will be reading this in horror that i've had lipsticks for that long, but they haven't gone bad or anything so I intend to keep them for as long as possible.

 

Rimmel really are up there with some of the best lipsticks in the beauty industry in my opinion, their formulas are great as are their colour ranges and the packaging is divine. So good for such a cheap drugstore/high street price. And the Rimmel Kate Moss lipsticks are just as good, if not a tiniest bit better.

 

The thing that tips the Kate Moss lipsticks to the post, compared to the standard Rimmel lipsticks, is that quite a number of the original lipsticks have quite a bit of shimmer/frosty look to them I think and the Kate Moss ones don't have any of that at all.

 

They are very creamy and moisturising, a pleasure to wear on the lips. They claim to last 6 hours on the lips, and i'd say that they almost settle down to a stain when they have worn down over the hours. But if you are eating or drinking they will of course come off, but they just don't wear off completely.

 

The packaging is just great to all black with the classic Rimmel slanted lid. Also I like the little signature on the lipsticks too, the pink one was from the Spring collection she did, whereas the red ones are from the main original line.

 

I currently have three of the Kate Moss lipsticks, 08 which a natural mauve brown nude sort of colour, 16 which is a coral pink colour and 06 which is a dark pink. Something to suit all seasons and occassions really.

 

 08 is my favourite among the bunch as it is a typical everyday wear colour, and it holds a special place in my heart as I wore this lipstick when I graduated from university. I would also wear this to work or to a job interview or any smart formal occassion where you don't want to be wearing a bright lipstick.

 

The other two are perfect for spring and summer, and I do wear the pink one all year round and leave the coral one for the sunnier months, i've been wearing the coral one a lot this month which promted me to write this post in the first place.

 

Kate has also brought out a range of Matte lipsticks in the red tubes, I don't own any of those as matte lipsticks really aren't my thing, but if you love them then I would take a look at those.

 

If you haven't tried the Kate Moss lipsticks out yet then I suggest you do, as they really are one of the best drugstore/high street lipsticks that you can find.

Rimmel Exaggerate Automatic Wateprood Eye Definer

Rimmel Exaggerate Automatic Wateprood Eye Definer - £3.99

 

I think this is the oldest eyeliner that I have in my makeup collection, I've had it for a few years now or at least well over a year, which is bad I know especially for an eye product.

 

But i'm not a big eyeliner lover and this just got forgotten about amongst the other eyeliners that I have. This Rimmel eyeliner is said to be waterproof, for one I don't think that it is, I applied it on my waterline and it didn't stay put for very long. I also applied it on my lash line and it took ages for me to get any sort of colour so it wasn't very pigmented.

 

All in all I think this eyeliner must have dried out, but then again I didn't use much of it to start with when I first got it so I must not have been that impressed to begin with.

 

I also think the colour does not help, this particular colour is Emerald Sparkle, which is a bright green almost turquoise colour and I just don't wear colours like that on my eyes, and from the swatch you can see it has bits of sparkle in it too which can't be good for your waterline especially, even more so if you have sensitive eyes that get irritated easily like mine do.

 

The only redeeming features of this product that I can see that it is a retractable eyeliner, so you just twist it up to get more product when you need some more, which is a great thing and I love eyeliners like that as you don't have to sharpen them. Also the smuger on the end is good if you want to have a smudgey rough eyeliner look, or good for creating smoky eyes.



It's such a shame I don't seem to get on with this eyeliner, as i'm normally a big fan of Rimmel products. If i'm honest I won't be buying this eyeliner again, I just didn't use it and there are other eyeliners out there that are better I think. Even Rimmel themselves do a better eyeliner, which is the Scandaleyes Eyeliners, I really like those. So if you want a cheap eyeliner from Rimmel then i'd suggest you go for those instead of this one.

Rimmel Scandaleyes Shadow Stick - Bad Bronze

Rimmel Scandaleyes Shadow Stick - Bad Bronze - £4.49
 

The Scandaleyes line by Rimmel has been a huge success in the last year or so, i've enjoyed using their eyeliners and now their Shadow Sticks are a hit with me too.

This whole crayon looking lip and eye product stemmed from Clinique (I think) and as Clinique is not the cheapest of the make-up brands it's no surprise the high street/drugstore make-up brands jumped on the bandwagon and created their own. I don't own any of the other brands version of the eye crayon shadows, to my recollection I can't even name any other brand off the top of my head that has come out with an eye shadow crayon type product, plenty of the lip crayons but not the eyes. Nevertheless the Shadow Sticks by Rimmel are the focus for todays review.

There was actually only one reason I was drawn to this product, and that was because I missed out on Mac's Eclair Paint Pot, having only discovered it after it's release in a Limited Edition collection had been and gone. So on the hunt for a perfect chocolate brown colour eyeshadow, I came across this. And hearing that people like the product I went ahead and got it, which was quite a challenge actually as it took me a while to find this particular colour.

It is a gorgeous chocolate brown colour with a gold shimmer in it, so beautiful!

It is very creamy and smooth to apply, a dream to blend and the lasting power is very good i'd say at least 8 hours wear time. With a primer more than likely longer.

You could potentially use this as a eyeliner, if you like the thick eyeliner look. But if you want a nice thin line, like myself, then this wouldn't work at all as the crayon is too big to create that look. Very good for a blended out/smudged eyeliner look though!

It didn't crease on my eyelids at all, then again I don't have particularly oily eyelids and not much tends to crease on them. This is basically a cream eyeshadow in a crayon form, so if you have trouble with cream eyeshadow products then this may not be entirely for you.

As you can see by the swatches, i've done a light swatch and a heavy swatch. It is very pigmented and you won't be tugging at your eyes or applying it loads to get colour, no need to worry on that front.

Price tag of under a fiver I have yet to find fault with the actual product, but I do have fault with Rimmel for releasing some not so good colours. There is a very bright turquoise colour, I don't know what it is with make-up brands always releasing bright colours, I don't think they appeal to that many people. I suspect people want more wearable everyday colours - I definitely do. A nice grey with a silver shimmer would be good, or a nice muted gold. They have a shade called Bulletproof Beige which i'm thinking might be a champagne sort of colour, which if it is then i'd be interested in purchasing that one, but none of the other colours appeal to me all that much.

Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquers

 

Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquers - £6.49

 

 

These Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquers have been a huge blogger and Youtuber favourite for a long time since they launched near the start of 2013.

I was completely sucked in by the hype and I got myself a couple.

 

First of all the packaging is just, oh gosh it's amazing! To be able to see the colour on the end is brilliant and the design on the tubes is just so pretty. Packaging really makes a difference I think and Rimmel definitely pulled it out of the bag for this one. And don't even get me started on the names, anything with a space theme has got me hooked!

 

As you can see, the applicator is no ordinary applicator, it almost has a funnel effect on the end which holds a lot of the product, enabling it to distribute the product amazingly onto the lips. It enables you to be very precise and the pigmentation is just insane, as you'll see from the swatches below, i've never seen any lip product like it!

 

The product itself is very glossy, and if you want a pop of colour on your lips this will deliver that in bucket loads! They are very creamy and moisturising and feel great on the lips, and not sticky at all. The whole lipstick/lipgloss hybrid products, aka lip lacquers as these are, have become very popular in recent times and I'm definitely on the bandwagon. And I would go as far as to say Rimmel are the best i've come across so far.

 

The red colour I have below is called 'Big Bang' and the mauvey pink colour is called 'Celestial'. I get more wear out of Celestial as it is an everyday pink shade,  I could wear this any day with an outfit and it wouldn't look out of place. The Big Bang colour is very scary at first, as it is so bright, but when worn right it looks fabulous! Such a classic pillar box red.

 

 

The only problem I have with these is that because they are so glossy, they can move around a bit and i've found the red one to smudge ever so slightly if you apply too much. It is a very wet formula and I have found the best way to apply these is to put on one layer and blot it and do that a couple of times and then the colour will last all day! Whereas if you just apply it the once, because its so glossy it will come off if you eat or drink. It's almost like if you want them to last you have to set them on your lips and set it with layers to still maintain the glossy look. Might be a bit of a hastle but it is worth it.

 

There are currently 13 shades of these lip laquers, they initially brought out 8 I think but they have added more as they are clearly popular. The colour range is great and I would love to pick up some more, but for the time being i'm very happy with these.
