Avene Soothing Eye Contour Cream

Avene Soothing Eye Contour Cream - £9.50

I had a major skin meltdown over May this year, it was horrendous! A month of skin hell is putting it politely. I was at my wits end trying to find something that would work to get rid of my itchy, very dry and very red skin. Around my eyes was one of my more severe areas of eczema flare up, and my usual holy grail Dr Organic Manuka Honey Rescue Cream was just not cutting it! Which still makes me sad as i've used that for three years and until now it's worked wonders. But I felt maybe the skin around my eyes would want a cream that was a little less heavier in consistancy. And after researching for many long hours about creams that work would well for around the eye area, I decided to try out this Avene Soothing Eye Contour Cream.

Firstly though I must talk about the brand, as I just love the story of how Avene came to be. Avene is a French brand created after the discovery of the thermal spring water back in 1736 in Southern France in a town called Avene near the Black Mountains, it is the geological aspect of these mountains that makes the water so special. This thermal spring water has been used around the world for centuries to help treat skin conditions, with it proving to have medical benefits, the water was even shipped over to America to help treat the burn victims of the Great Fire of Chicago in 1871. It's kind of like a mythical fairytale, the way this special water has been proven to treat irritated skin. I love stories of brands like this that go back through the centuries. And you know a brand must be good if it has been going for almost 300 years.

This Avene Soothing Eye Contour Cream is indeed pricy at £9.50, especially for only 10ml of product, but I was willing to pay anything to help my eyes out and i'm so glad I did. It has really reduced the redness around my eyes and the dryness has gone completely. I'm now able to wear foundation and concealer around my eyes, without it settling into the dry patches (oh it was not a good look!) and it's all thanks to this cream, as I haven't changed my foundation or concealer.

I just patted a tiny little bit of the cream to my under eye area, and I have used it a bit around the eyelid and brow bone area, but I have another eye product which I prefer for that, which is the Clinique All About Eyes Rich cream which i'll talk about in another post very soon. But for the under eye area it is so amazing. It is, as the name suggests, very soothing and calms and itchiness down completely and just makes the area very soft and not at all dry. I've been loving this so much! I just wish that it came in a larger tube and it was a bit cheaper. I don't know how long 10ml of product will last me but we'll see, I'd like to repurchase it but the price point is a real negative for me. I'll have to do some online research to see if I can get it anywhere cheaper.

If you are suffering with itchy, dry and red skin around your eyes, that are very sensitive to products then i'd urge you to try this. It has no fragrance and no parabens, so it is great for sensitive skin sufferers like myself. I don't know if I could be without this cream now, I just am head over heels in love with it.
